Steve Verity is the Principal Advisor for Asset Management at the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA). With over 30 years of experience in infrastructure management across both the public and private sectors, he has played a pivotal role in advancing best-practice asset management.
A Fellow of IPWEA, Steve has a strong appreciation for the importance of strategic planning and risk management in ensuring sustainable funding for infrastructure projects and service delivery.
In his role at IPWEA, Steve provides technical leadership, drives industry training, and advocates for progressive asset management practices to meet future challenges. He has been instrumental in developing key resources, including the International Infrastructure Management Manual (IIMM), NAMS+, and the Asset Management Pathway educational program, which supports professional recognition under the World Partners in Asset Management (WPiAM) Global Certification Scheme.
As IPWEA’s representative for the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management, Steve has contributed to several infrastructure studies including the New Zealand Infrastructure Commission’s Asset Management State of Play Report, and the National State of the Assets Report for the Australian Local Government Association.
With a career dedicated to enhancing infrastructure resilience and sustainability, Steve remains a thought leader and mentor in the asset management field, supporting professionals and organisations in shaping the future of public works.
