Over 300 roading sector professionals attended the first Future Roads conference and exhibition at Claudelands Events Centre 7-8 November 2022. Future Roads is an annual two-day conference for the New Zealand roading sector, providing a forum for strategy, discussion and execution.
Highlights included an address from the Minister of Transport, Hon Michael Woods, keynote from Nicole Rosie – chief executive officer, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, and an update on sustainable pavements from Ian Lancaster – general manager, Eurobitume UK.
As well as plenary sessions, separate conference streams covered materials, procurement, current major projects, technology and regulation. The integrated exhibition space boasted a mix of booths, equipment and networking areas. Additional networking and some welcome relief was provided at the end of day one at the conference gala dinner hosted by comedian Paul Ego.
